FAQs

Straight answers about working with KOVO, pricing, ownership, websites, software, and support.

01

Working with KOVO

01What is KOVO?

KOVO is a digital design and development studio. We create websites, business systems, custom software, and native mobile applications for small, medium-sized, and larger organizations.

02Do you work with businesses outside Canada?

Yes. KOVO works internationally with businesses of all sizes. Calls, project updates, design reviews, and delivery can all be handled remotely across locations and time zones.

03Do you provide both design and development?

Yes. KOVO can handle strategy, UI/UX design, copywriting, content entry, frontend development, backend systems, integrations, and launch support. The exact mix depends on the project.

04Can you work with our existing brand?

Yes. KOVO can work within an established brand system, extend an incomplete one, or help create a new visual direction when needed.

05How do we communicate during a project?

Major decisions and updates are documented clearly, with scheduled video calls and collaborative review tools used as appropriate. The goal is direct access and fewer layers.

02

Websites and content

01Can you improve an existing website?

Possibly. If the source code and required access are available, KOVO can review the website and determine whether improving the existing system is practical. Some websites are better rebuilt because of their platform, code quality, or technical limitations.

02Do you provide copywriting and content entry?

Yes. Copywriting and content entry can be included. Additional fees may apply for extensive content, specialist subject matter, unusually large migrations, or highly specific requests.

03What do the monthly plans include?

Monthly plans include everything listed for the selected plan, including the domain name, domain hosting, website hosting, security and software updates, maintenance, content management, and the applicable level of support.

04Can I cancel a managed plan?

Yes. A managed plan can be cancelled. The website remains live until the end of the paid billing period and is then taken offline. Because KOVO owns the final source code under the subscription model, the website and source code are not transferred when the plan ends unless a separate written agreement says otherwise.

05Who owns the final code?

For managed monthly subscriptions, KOVO owns the final website source code and the client receives use of the live website while the subscription is active. For custom projects, ownership and licensing are defined in the written proposal or services agreement.

03

Custom software and mobile

01Do you build native mobile apps?

Yes. KOVO can build native mobile applications. Mobile apps require a different discovery and delivery approach from websites, and pricing varies significantly based on platforms, features, backend requirements, and distribution.

02Can you build integrations and automations?

Yes. KOVO can connect APIs, CRMs, ecommerce platforms, data sources, and operational tools, and can create custom workflows or AI-assisted features where they provide a real benefit.

03What technologies do you use?

Technology is selected around the project. KOVO commonly works with modern web technologies such as React, Next.js, TypeScript, Node.js, APIs, and cloud platforms, with native mobile technology chosen according to platform and product requirements.

04

Scope, pricing, and AI

01What happens if the scope changes?

If the requested work materially changes or expands the agreed scope, additional fees may apply. KOVO will explain the effect on timing and cost before starting the added work.

02How are custom projects priced?

Defined projects are priced around scope, complexity, timeline, and risk. Larger work may use milestone payments. Native apps, custom products, and complex integrations require discovery before an accurate quote.

03How do you use AI responsibly?

KOVO uses AI as a supporting tool—not an unchecked decision-maker. We minimize the client information shared with AI services, keep human review in the workflow, respect confidentiality, and do not intentionally use confidential client data to train public models. Project-specific AI use can be discussed and restricted in writing.

04Do you provide post-launch support?

Yes. Support can be included through a managed website plan, maintenance arrangement, or separate ongoing engagement depending on what was built.
